Church of Sneakers
In 2016 we realized the Church of Sneakers for Sneakerhelden in Dresden, Germany. The main dome structure spans 198 square metres/ 2,131 square feet and is fully self-supporting. To achieve this we completely reengineered the way we work to make sure we can complete this project in time successfully. With a cut-outline of 12.6 km/7.8 miles the main dome is not only the biggest one we ever built, but one of the biggest of that kind in Europe.
The concept for this project is based on the idea of a church, with a cross in the middle as the two main axes. Our goal was to give customers a feeling of entering a sacred building with the sneaker as the centre. Every part of the store interior is made of cardboard. The huge “Möbius-Loop islands” function as displays for the sneakers. They are highly adaptable, with the sneakers showcased on small plates which can be removed, added and positioned as needed.
Sneakerhelden is – to this day – the largest structure we have ever built. For this, we won the German Design Award 2018.
