The Dragon at the House of Rituals
In 2023 Dutch Creative Agency LIGANOVA Netherlands B.V. asked us to assist with the creation of a Chinese Dragon for an upcoming campaign for the cosmetic company Rituals in Amsterdam: 15m/49ft long and mounted to the ceiling. Needless to say we were happy to help!
In order to achieve the distinct look LIGANOVA had in mind we used Re-board®, an excellent material to create segments that can easily be mounted to the ceiling due to the low weight and high stability. Furthermore the segments could be rotated and adjusted in any direction due to an integrated connecting system between the segments. Also slots were cut to hold the dragon’s scales made of printed paper. All of it was developed, prototyped and tested in our facility in the Greater Vancouver Area. After testing it we sent all data back to the Netherlands, so LIGANOVA could take care of the production and installation.
The project turned out to be a huge success, showing not only what lightweight structures made of engineered paperboard can do, but also showcasing global design and local production.
